30 Days of Beauty-Day 8: Women's Football
Tonight we went to watch a Minnesota Machine football game in Woodbury. It is a women's tackle football team that is a member of the National Football Alliance. We have two friends who play on the team, and a whole group of us went to the game to watch and cheer them on. This was the final game of the season. It was against the Nebraska Stampede. It was a great game to attend, and I'm happy that the Minnesota Machine won their game.
It was amazing to watch these women in action! They are phenomenal athletes. The stamina, strength, and dedication needed to participate in this sport is incredible. It is a demanding sport requiring hours of training. However, what I found so interesting was the beauty of teamwork. The camaraderie of the team members was apparent in their play as well as their post-game interactions. While they worked together to win their game, they also took care of each other.
After the game, our group of friends joined other Minnesota Machine supporters at The Cherry Pit, their sponsor. It was great fun to hang out with all of our friends and catch up on what's happening in their lives. I particularly enjoyed talking to our friends who were on the team. Their joy of the sport was readily apparent as they talked about their game. They were understandably sad that this was the last game of the season. I'm glad we were there to show our support for them.
After we had been at The Cherry Pit for awhile, the Nebraska Stampede team showed up. It was beautiful to see how these competitors enjoyed each others' company. The Nebraska team stayed overnight so that they could support the sponsors of their opposition as well as to celebrate a game well played. Very classy ladies!
Have you found your joy today?
